Writers ~ Poets ~ Essayists
If you write, entering contests will help motivate you to keep writing and continually improve your work. Challenging yourself with new genres, deadlines, and submission guidelines is one more way to practice.
The Bonus - Winning a contest has its rewards. Validation of your craft, publication, and having your work recognized by your peers are just a few. Monetary prizes are, of course, always appreciated.
Only submit your best work. I'll say that again. Only submit your best work.
Write. Proofread. Edit. Reread. Rewrite. Edit some more. Proofread again.
Don't waste the judge's time, or your money, entering contests with anything but your best.
I will update this page as I learn of new contests. If you know of a contest that I haven't posted yet, note it in the comments below. Please include as much information as possible.
The posts here are for information only. Each contest has its own official entry site.
All contest rules, deadlines, prizes, publishing rights, etc. are the responsibility of the particular contest organizer. Do you research before submitting your work.
Good luck and happy writing.
